About me
I've always been interested in all kinds of art because I felt the need to express myself in many different ways. The need to create something that is unique and to see how an idea develops is extremely fascinating and offers an opportunity to push my own and the technological limits a little further every time I'm about to finish a project. Never being satisfied with any of my finished products, this site will hopefully be a document that shows how I'm continuously taking any work I do one step further than the last finished project.
Where do I come from?
Having lived in Hungary, Germany, Australia and the UK I'm never sure how to answer this question. I was born in Budapest, Hungary and my parents are German and Hungarian. My brother was born in Germany and since our family continuously moved from one country to another, I never really got used to living in one place for much more than five years at a time. This should also influence my decisions later in life when I was able to decide on my own what I wanted to do or where I wanted to go next.
... it helps me to see myself from a different angle.
Getting a new start in a new city or country is always a bit hard at first, but it's also very rewarding as it helps me to see myself from a different angle. The way I communicate, the way people see me is often influenced by the people around me. I think I am the same character but people would probably describe me as introverted, extroverted, quiet, loud, boring, crazy person. Having no answer to the question "where I'm from" sums up the way I see my life.
Keep on moving
After finishing finishing my first year at school in Hungary, my family decided to move to Heidenau near Dresden. Having to deal with moving to a new country where I had to go to a school where people spoke a different language to the kids at my current school seemed like a huge task for me as a small kid. My parents raised me speaking 2 languages (hungarian and german) but I was far more comfortable speaking hungarian. So when my mum asked me a question in german I would always reply in hungarian.
Once in Germany, I found out that adjusting to a new place isn't that bad after all. Of course in the first weeks or months it seems like I would never get used to it but in retrospect it always turned out to be a great lesson in life and in how to deal with people (or how not to...).
As soon as I got used to living in Germany and hungarian became almost my second language, we moved to Hungary again. But this time it would be different because we would go to a german school in Budapest. This would be an important move as I started to discover music (I picked up the guitar) and art (I started paint and I drew a lot).
The next move was a bit harder to swallow because I got used to Hungary and enjoyed life in a country where constant change from the communist past to a more "westernized" present could be seen on a daily basis. The contrast between the old city and the new shopping malls and cinemas seemed so surreal.
Back in Germany, I graduated in year 12 and went on to take a break to find out what it is that I want to do. I've been designing websites for family and friends and recording music even-though I had no idea how to do it properly. So I spent my days and nights copy and pasting single notes into a midi file (some of them are still floating around on the Internet!). I layered sounds manually and pasted instrument parts manually. All that would only take a few minutes with proper gear but I didn't know how to work a sequencer so I did it my way. And I learned valuable lessons about editing, sounds and what kind of cheating you can get away with.
I figured it out: I wanted to study audio engineering!
Since it would be expensive and the only place offering such a diploma in Germany was SAE at the time, I started looking for a job that could pay for it. I found it in Stuttgart! I had to move again and this time, at the age of 18, it meant moving out and figuring out how to pay my own bills.
my next big goal: Australia.
After the Stuttgart chapter was closed (with a Multimedia Diploma in my pocket - that's another story...), I went back to Dresden to save up for my next big goal: Australia.
This would be another big one. The second life-defining move:
I found love and a bunch of guys who quickly became a second family on the other side of the world. 2004-2005 would change my life and make me realize my dream again: music & art.
I found my priorities (again) but I had to work hard to get there and to be able to do what I love to do. Always being busy, I'm still trying to find the right balance between work, hobby (which often is my work) and time off (which right now is filled with my hobby).
Always restless...
Why do I paint?
I often get asked why I paint. Usually someone sends me an email and it seems that the website never answered it clearly so here it is:
I love it.
Ok, maybe I should go into detail: It's not my profession and I don't do it too often. But if I feel like I'm inspired to start something, I grab my things and start painting. It has to happen naturally, like writing a song. You can't sit down and decide to write a song (unless you're probably some song writing genius who does it for a living). But that's how I approach painting. It's a hobby and I mostly paint for myself, friends or family. I don't paint for people who want to buy artwork. That would put some pressure on me which would probably ruin the fun of doing it.
It's my kind of therapy. Whenever I looked at a design on my screen for too many hours, I get up and paint to relax and get my mind off of the bright colors of the always present LCD screen.
It helps to ease my back pain a little bit and gives me an opportunity to step back and look at something more... real.
Last but not least...
